Ho provato questa tavola nel aprile 2005 nello spot di Principina a Mare (GR).
Le condizioni erano quelle classiche di questo spot: 20 nodi di scirocco, side shore mure a sinistra con onde di un metro circa.
Avevo la vela da 5.4 mq Combat e una pinna Maui Fin Co. da 22cm.
La tavola da subito sembra planare molto velocemente, e sorpassa bene i buchi di vento.
Dai salti più alti si atterra bene, e la prua molto corta facilita molto gli atterraggi di prua, specie nei back loop.
Un po’ più difficile è invece l’utilizzo in freestyle, dove le piccole pinnette laterali e il poco volume a poppa impongono manovre pulite e senza incertezze.
Ma è in surfata che si ottengono i risultati migliori.
Innanzitutto la tavola gira “da paura!!”, le due pinnette laterali (asportabili per i giorni di onda sopra i due mt.) offrono una tenuta incredibile, e rendono la tavola super reattiva.
Anche con le ondine come nel giorno del test, la tavola prende un’ottima velocità ed i bottom turn si possono impostare a piacimento: in poche parole, più spingi e più gira...
Arrivi sul lip sempre veloce, e la tavola ti consente di fare ciò che ti pare.. dagli aerial ai cut back più radicali e puliti.
In soprainvelatura si comporta bene, e cambiando la pinna con una più piccola di quella di serie si aumenta molto il range di utilizzo.
Per concludere, direi che questa è una tavola accessibile ma che può offrire tanto, soprattutto nelle condizioni che abbiamo molto spesso in Italia.
Tra le onde sto usando praticamente solo questa tavola. Con la 6 metri come con la 4.7.
Mi sento di fare i complimenti ad Aurelio Verdi, lo shaper, che a nostro avviso ha fatto un ottimo lavoro.

I’ve tried this board in the Principina’ s spot (Grosseto, Tuscany) last April 2005.
The condition was a typical day for this place : 20 knots side shore of SW wind, with 3 ft. Waves.
My sail was a 5.4 mq Combat, so i’ve chosed a 22 cm. Maui Fin.

The board plane quickly and pass easily thru gusts. Landing from highier jumps is easy, thanks to the short nose, especially back loops. Less easy is the freestyle-time, because the short side fins (yes, is a trusther board) and the little back foot volume ask for clean moves without any hesitancy of the rider.

But is about ripping the main plus of this stuff. First of all, it turns “like hell!!”; the small fins (removable for big waves days, over head I mean) grips and gives an extra reactivity to the board.

Also with small waves like those of the test day, high is the speed on the face of the wave while bottom turns are always free : the more you press with your back foot and more the turn is thight but without loosing speed. This gives the chance to impact the lip with a good speed, allowing every move .. likes aerials and clean radical cutbacks.

Even overpowered the feeling is good, changing the fin the range of use gets a serious widening.
To us this is a friendly board that doesn’t pay anything to its easiness of use, performing consistently with sails from 4.7 to 6 mq.
